Alongside a career in the City, Joe Monteiro is a composer and arranger of choral and chamber music. He is Director of Music at the Church of Our Lady Immaculate & St Frederick, London. He graduated from the University of Oxford, where he was organ scholar at St Hugh’s College. 

Choral works include motets, Mass and psalm settings, and arrangements of hymns and carols. Instrumental works include music for organ, piano and chamber ensembles. His sacred music has been performed in churches across London. ‘Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem’, a voluntary composed for organist Michael Hebbert, was performed at Southwark Cathedral in 2024 by James Gough, who subsequently recorded the work. 

Joe signed with Ulysses Arts in 2024, with a first release, And Ruth said, in December. Ave Maria and Limehouse Mass, recorded with the Happenstance Singers, are set for release in early 2025. A second album of choral recordings is scheduled for 2026.
